The SMX Multi-Rate Serial Digital Matrix Switcher Boards are designed for routing multi-rate SDI and HD-SDI serial digital video signals from 19 Mbps to 2.97 Gbps. Two SMX Multi-Rate Serial Digital Matrix Switcher Boards can be used to switch SMPTE 372M dual-link HD-SDI digital video signals. They are available in 8x8 and 16x16 I/O sizes.

Features

  • Automatically adapts to SMPTE and ITU digital video standards for 3G‑SDI, HD‑SDI, and SDI — Complies with SMPTE 259M, ITU‑R BT.601, SMPTE 292M, and ITU‑R BT.1120 standards. SMX 88 3G‑SDI and SMX 1616 3G‑SDI also support the SMPTE 424M Standard.
  • Supports data rates from 270 Mbps to 2.97 Gbps — Supports 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and SDI digital video signals.
  • Optimized for SMPTE 372M dual-link HD-SDI — Zero skew design pairs adjacent input and output connectors for superb performance with very high data rate signals, even over long distances.
  • Passes embedded audio, ancillary ID and metadata information, and SD/HD-SDTI digital video signals — Passes all data allowed within published SMPTE and ITU digital video standards, including embedded audio, ancillary ID and metadata information, and SDTI (SMPTE 305M) and HD-SDTI (SMPTE 348M) digital video signals.
  • Input equalization — Equalizes input signals 300 feet (100 m) or more on Extron RG6 or equivalent cable.
  • Output reclocking — Reclocks and drives output signals 300 feet (100 m) or more on Extron RG6 or equivalent cable.
  • User-selectable reclocking modes — Automatically reclocks SMPTE and ITU standard serial digital video rates. Reclockers can also be set to a signal, predetermined SMPTE/ITU standard data rate for optimum switching performance, or bypassed to allow for switching nonstandard data rates.
  • DSVP™ - Digital Sync Validation Processing — Polls inputs and outputs to verify data rates. DSVP then transmits the information to the user through the Ethernet or serial ports on the SMX frame.

Note: When installing this board in an existing SMX Frame, new SMX Frame firmware may be required; contact your Extron technical services representative for more information.
