Paris, France (October 22, 2002) – Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce the VSC 500 and VSC 700 Video Scan Converters with new, proprietary scan converting technologies for sharper, crisper images. Both models convert high-resolution computer images from up to 1600 x 1200 down to video rates such as composite video, S-video, component video, and/or RGB video. Each also incorporates innovative technologies into the scan conversion engine to improve video performance, simplify operations, and enhance the output. Applications include videoconferencing, video recording, and viewing the images on PAL or NTSC monitors or other display devices. In addition, the VSC 700 may also be used in broadcast environments, as it has the ability to genlock to an external black burst signal. Key features of the new VSC scan converters include user-friendly centering and sizing controls, zoom control up to 200%, horizontal and vertical filtering to improve image clarity, an LCD window for intuitive menu navigation, 16 auto-memory presets and 60 factory presets for picture controls with auto save and auto-recall, along with eight zoom presets, and an internal color bar generator for easy setup. The Auto-Image™ setup feature can be used to automatically adjust the sizing, centering, and filtering to optimize the output image with just a touch of a button. There is also a buffered loop-through for local monitor output. On the VSC 500, both input and buffered loop-through are on 15-pin HD female VGA connectors and the three simultaneous outputs are on female BNCs, ideal for the traveling presenter to use with a laptop. The VSC 700 includes all of the aforementioned features as well as genlock capabilities and additional horizontal and vertical filters for superior image quality. The input, buffered loop-through, and three simultaneous outputs are on female BNC connectors for easy integration into the rack of an AV system. The VSC 700D also offers a fourth digital SDI (4:2:2) output on a BNC connector for use with a CCIR-601 SDI source. Both models are housed in a 1U high, half rack width metal enclosure for easy rack mounting. All models can be controlled via the front panel, IR remote, or RS-232 and include an internal international power supply.
