"The new SMX System MultiMatrix combines the proven reliability and high performance of Extron's popular fixed I/O matrix switchers with the efficiency of a modular matrix switcher design," says Lee Dodson, Vice President of Marketing for Extron. "With this flexible system, matrix boards can be installed in the field in five easy steps, without switcher disassembly, new firmware, or even the need to remove the SMX matrix frame from the rack."

SMX System MultiMatrix frames are available in 3U, 4U, and 5U sizes, providing six, eight, or ten matrix board slots, respectively. All of the frames feature front panel control, IP Link® Ethernet , and RS-232 remote control. Matrix boards are available in I/O sizes up to 16x16 in a variety of signal types including composite, S-video, VGA, wideband, HD-SDI, and stereo audio. Up to 10 separate matrix boards can be switched independently or simultaneously, all under a single point of control.
