Anaheim, California (March 19, 2009) - Extron Electronics is pleased to announce the immediate availability of two new additions to the company's growing line of fiber optic products. These include the FOX 4G DA8, an eight output fiber optic distribution amplifier, and the FOX 4G SW8, an eight input fiber optic switcher. Both products are designed for switching and distribution, as well as long haul transmission of fiber optic AV and RS-232 control signals over a single fiber. Engineered for reliability and exceptional performance, they support up to 4.25 Gbps digital switching and distribution for standard definition video, high resolution computer-video, DVI-D, and multi-rate SDI, delivering pixel-for-pixel throughput up to 1600x1200 and HDTV 1080p/60.

"We are pleased to offer these new fiber optic switching and distribution products for integrators looking to build small scale systems with the advantages and capabilities of fiber optics," says Lee Dodson, Vice President of Marketing for Extron. "Integrators can use FOX Series products to create a complete fiber optic AV system that delivers perfect pixel-for-pixel high resolution image performance at every display." "

The FOX 4G DA8 and FOX 4G SW8 are compatible with all Extron FOX Series fiber optic transmitters, receivers, distribution amplifiers, and matrix switchers. They are equipped with several features specifically for AV integration, including RS-232 serial control and rack-mount capability. Individual outputs can be selectively muted through RS-232 control, and for the FOX 4G SW8, loop-throughs are provided for seven of the eight inputs, allowing for viewing at locations separate from that of the switcher output.

As with all other Extron Fiber Optics products, the FOX 4G DA8 and FOX 4G SW8 continuously monitor input and output fiber links, and can be set to trigger an external control system in the event a fiber link is lost.
